YOUR INVITATION TO THE EAC CONVENTION
Dear colleague
On behalf of our EAC Chairman and members of the EAC Board may I cordially invite you to attend the forthcoming Convention and, should you so wish, the special 1-day training which takes place before it.
It is time again to book your place at the European Airshow Council Annual Convention in Hasselt, Belgium from 25-27 February 2010.
If you click on the following link or paste it into your browser it will take you to the
Headlines and all links for the next Convention on the EAC Website:
From that page you can see all the details by clicking on the menu on the left-hand side of the page which will take you to the following subjects:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the EAC’s mission and who should attend?
- The aim of the EAC is to “Promote excellence and Safety at Airshows”
- The EAC Board has a Chairman from Belgium and Board members from France, Malta, The Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK.
- Our objective is to make airshows safe and successful: so join us, learn from the experiences of others and make your own contribution... The final programme will be notified on the website when it has been completed and confirmed.
- The European Airshow Council is open to everyone involved in the Airshow world including: Display pilots, Performers, Organizers, Military and Civil Authorities and Regulators.
Who will be there?
Leading figures in the Airshow industry from all over Europe and beyond, including performers, organisers, Military and Civil Aviation Authorities and Display Teams, will gather again for the meeting. Last year 140 delegates from 25 countries were represented and its undoubted success has stimulated the continued growth of the organisation. The speakers include multinational, experienced experts as well as those who are learning from experience and sharing them with all delegates in an informal atmosphere with ample opportunities for face-to-face discussions.
What is the “special event” extra training for and who should attend?
The EAC Board has decided that the time was right to offer in-depth training and exchange of experience to EAC Members and the first subject for special treatment will be “Airshow Display Management - the responsibilities of the Display Director as a key person in safety and entertainment at Airshows.” This subject has been chosen as a result of several requests from delegates at previous Conventions. It was recognised that, to do justice to this subject, an afternoon seminar did not allow sufficient time. Accordingly, a one day training period has been designed. It is aimed at the following people:
- As essential initial training for a new Airshow Display Director and member of the Flying Control Committee and those new to Airshows..
- As refresher training for more experienced Display Directors.
- As important information to Airshow Organisers and Performers in understanding their role in working with the Display Director to minimise risks and ensuring safe air displays at Airshows.
As an aid to Civil Aviation Authorities when deciding who should be permitted to become a Display Director for Airshows under their responsibility
To save on travel and accommodation costs, the EAC has arranged for the training to take place on the day prior to the main EAC Convention 2010 (on 25 February 2010) thus only requiring one extra night of accommodation and no extra travel expenses.
Presentations and Discussions
Safety and quality are fundamental to the theme and subjects being presented. “Lessons Learnt” and practical experiences will be presented by both display pilots and organisers and discussed between delegates. We will also examine the demands made upon resources to support the growing popularity of seaside airshows and address the need to find sufficient sponsorship and to establish successful community relations. The influence and role of the commentator in controlling and entertaining a crowd are put under the spotlight. That and much more promise a lively and interesting Convention!
The final programme will be notified on the website when it has been completed and confirmed.
The face-to-face discussions between delegates are judged especially important by all delegates to the Convention. Apart from the huge value in exchanging experience, display pilots find new Airshows to attend and organisers meet new performers who are keen to participate in their flying programmes in the coming season!
Fees for early bookings for the full Convention and accommodation charges have not increased for 5 years.
Great efforts have been made to minimise costs for the delegates. The Fees include the Official Reception on Thursday at City Hall, all meals on Friday and session hospitality. They also include the very popular informal ‘Airshow Dinner” on the Friday evening, allowing delegates an invaluable opportunity for relaxed discussions.
