EUROPEAN AIRSHOW COUNCIL CONVENTION: 15-17 FEBRUARY 2007
Dear Colleague November 2006
On behalf of the Chairman of the European Airshow Council, may I invite you to attend our annual Convention? It will be held at our normal venue in the Holiday Inn, Hasselt, Belgium from Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 February 2007.
Representatives from all over Europe and leading figures in the Airshow industry, including performers, organisers, Military and Civil Aviation Authorities and Formation Display Team representatives, will gather for the meeting. Last year more than 90 delegates from 20 countries were represented and its undoubted success has stimulated the continued growth of the organisation: early enquiries indicate that even larger numbers intend to be in Hasselt this year.
The theme for this year is
“Seeking Safe and Attractive Airshows” and asksthe question
“What innovations are shaping the future of the Airshow world?” We have dynamic speakerswho will stimulate discussion and sustain the high reputation of the Convention over recent years. Plenary sessions are throughout Friday 16 February and on Saturday morning 17 February. Following the success of the extra Seminar held last year at the specific request of delegates, a seminar on Thursday afternoon of 15 February will ask
“Are you Organised? Have you got your act together? Led by a duo that organised 12 airshows in 2006 for special events, on airfields and over the sea, the objective is to discuss many aspects of organising an airshow. The Seminar will be valuable to those with less experience as well as serving as an update for the more experienced. It will also offer invaluable insights to display pilots and Civil and Military Authorities on the problems and priorities facing the organiser of airshows today. The main Convention itself attracts authoritative speakers from several countries and opportunities for questions and discussion in open forum and during the well established and popular social events. Fuller details of the proposed content of the
Programme are available on the EAC Website.
Great efforts have been made to minimise costs for the delegates. The
Fees include the Official Reception on Thursday, all meals on Friday and session hospitality and fees. They also include the very popular informal ‘Airshow Dinner” on the Friday evening, allowing delegates an invaluable opportunity for relaxed discussions. All delegates staying in Hotels in Hasselt will be met on arrival in Belgium or the Netherlands and provided with free transport to and from their Hotel. Partners are welcome; they traditionally enjoy participating in social events.
The cost of the full package excludes accommodation. Should you wish to use the special prices offered for the excellent Holiday Inn accommodation, you may book via myself by telephone or e-mail to get a preferential rate, and settle your account with the Hotel before departure. (Please do not try to book directly with the Hotel via the internet) You may, of course, arrange your own alternative Hotel accommodation in Hasselt and details of several Hotels in Hasselt are also on the website.
More details of the Convention and the provisional Programme can be found on the EAC Website at www.european-airshow.com.
You can complete the Application Form on-line. I hope that you will be able to attend the pre-Convention seminar as well as the main Convention. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information.
