Convention EAC2014

logo1 Latest News about the next convention in 2014: the dates are 6-8 March; it will start with a Viper Pilots "Side Meeting" for the current and past F16 Demo Pilots, and, if this is successful, maybe this willbe the basis to organize, in 2015, a wider session for a Solo-display Pilots Side-Meeting to include all fast jet display pilots. Because everybody was very happy with the hotel and facilities in 2013, the Convention will be Antwerp again in the 4* Hotel Radisson Blue Astrid.

Organisers

One of the main groups in the Airshow business is the different organisers from around the world who have taken on the task of organising the various Airshows that are held in most countries in Europe, America, Canada and many of the eastern and Oceania countries including Russia, Australia and Dubai.Without these hard working organisers, many of whom dedicate their own private time towards these events, there would not be any airshows.

Performers

There would not be an Airshow without performers. This group forms the second major component of the Airshow industry. There is a very wide spectrum of Airshow performers coming from different backgrounds and all walks of life. There are individuals who dedicate their free time to flying and performing in Airshows. There are also others that are employed full time in the business of performing at Airshows. Some are military personnel whilst others have a normal civilian job besides their aviation activities. All strive for excellence in their particular field whilst ensuring that safety is the topmost priority.

Aerobatic Teams

Although still in the realm of Airshow performers, aerobatic teams, particulary the larger ones, are quite often the major attraction to the public attending an Airshow.

Commentators

The specialist Commentators at Airshows are also ‘performers’ at an Airshow.  They are a vital element in ensuring that the public are entertained; enjoying and understanding what they see.  They have a special responsibility to the spectators in the event of any incident.

Aviation Authorities

Although Aviation Authorities are not involved with organising or participating in Airshow, they are definitely a key player in ensuring the safety and proper running of Airshows around the world. Most of these authorities take a very keen interest in the Airshow business and provide much welcome assistance to both organisers and performers.

Industry

There are various sectors of the Aviation industry that are also an integral part of any Airshow. These included airport operators, insurance companies, airlines, fuel suppliers, aircraft handling and maintenance companies to name a few.

 Sponsors

In many cases there would not be an Airshow without the vital input or financial or operational assistance from a large number of sponsors. Some of these are normally directly involved in the aviation industry. For others, a particular Airshow might be their only connection with an aviation event. Some of the organisations offer their direct sponsorship to the Airshow industry and the European Airshow Council highly appreciates the support given to the Council by the Sponsors

Corporate Entities

The Airshow industry has been seen to be an ideal medium for marketing and advertising not only for aviation related products but also for quite a number of corporate industries that see a major potential in our industry. These include travel, hospitality, entertainment and some of the major global manufacturing and distribution organisations.

Others

There are quite a number of organisations who are involved in the airshow industry but do not fall within any of the above categories. The underlying reason for their involvement includes, we hope, an interest in Airshows.

Airshows are about people ...

In the end it is the pilot and his skill that make the aerobatics look so exciting and it is the all the men and women, boys and girls who, in very many cases, freely volunteer to help that make an event so memorable.  We will be running a series of stories about special people ... airshow people ...over the coming months.  Tell us about the people who make your airshow special, you can see here.
